It’s Waddle Time!

Wasatch Waddle 2024!

Waddle 2024 It’s our most Fun FUNdraiser of the year!

We “Waddle” with our Basset Hounds in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. It’s about one mile, through the streets of Salt Lake City.

No need to worry if you have an older hound or one not able to keep up on foot…er, paw…because we provide the Pooped Pup Pick-up Truck! We’re also encouraging you to bring wagons or lawn carts for the hounds to ride in. We have to keep up with the rest of the parade so bring wheels if you have them.

Please, keep in mind the comfort and happiness of your hounds. If you’re not sure yours will have a good time while waddling, you can volunteer to walk one of our fosters, or help another family who has multiple hounds. It’s nosey and busy, so please consider your hound’s happiness and well-being.

Because this is a Basset Hound Waddle, registration is limited to any Basset Hound and the Basset Hound mixes that have been adopted from UFBH only. Questions, concerns, call Peggy 801-915-3647.

Help UFBH find our Pot o’ Gold! Get those pledge sheets filled!

Our fundraising goal for the Wasatch Waddle 2024 is $5,000! We realize that this goal might seem lofty right now but we know that with your help UFBH can reach it!

Since we started in 2002, we’ve taken in nearly 1,700 basset hounds. $5,000 would go a long way in helping us save more lives. As always, 100% of the money you raise goes to our Hounds.

Talk to your friends, family, and others! Ask for their support!

And what do you say to your family, neighbors, and friends to get those pledges? Here are some points that explain why Utah Friends of Basset Hounds is important to the community at large:

“We are a “Breed Specific Rescue”. We help local shelters by taking the Basset Hounds; freeing up room for other breeds of dogs who then have a better chance of being adopted. UFBH often takes in hounds directly from people who can no longer care for them, preventing them from ever going through shelters. The last few years, we have been helping save the lives of Bassets from “high-kill” states. We know the breed well and can place them in loving homes, offering adjustment and training support.

UFBH spays and neuter all Hounds before they are adopted; helping control the over-population of unwanted dogs. All of our rescues are wellness and heartworm checked, microchipped, and are current with all vaccinations.

Fundraising Tips

Waddle 2024 Get the word out to your co-workers, friends, and family asking them to support you and UFBH by using the statements above.

Put out a donation jar at your office, or your friends office. You’ll be surprised how many people will throw spare change in and how quickly it can add up! Add your dish of coins from home and ask others to do the same. Put a catchy sign with your dog’s picture on it by the jar and watch it fill up! (Some America First banks have coin counting machines you can use at no charge.)

Sell unneeded or extra items you may have on Facebook Marketplace, EBay, Craig’s List or KSL.com

Make some cookies, candy or other treats and give them to folks for a donation. One of our members sold homemade beef jerky one year!

Have a dinner or cocktail party and suggest a per-person donation to increase your pledges.

For your first $100 in pledges, you will receive one FREE Wasatch Waddle 2024 t-shirt.

Let’s get ready to Waddle!
